We’re active managers. Our job is to invest where we see a good reward for the risk and to be defensive where we don’t.

The Investment Process

The managers investment process involves fundamental analysis to assess the credit worthiness of the issuer and also to identify bonds that the team believe to be undervalued. This is then complemented by the team’s macroeconomic views, with the team happy to take both long and short-term positions.

Risk

The fund typically invests in high quality fixed-income securities so historically has had a much lower risk profile than the UK stock market. The fund’s performance will be considerably affected by interest rate rises, and with rates currently at all time lows this could become a risk in the near future. The risk levels of the fund are also increased by its considerable size, which could become a problem should there be large investor outflows from the fund.

Our Opinion

Invesco has one of the best fixed-income teams around and the fund is managed by some of the most respected managers in the industry. The track record stands up to extreme scrutiny and consequently, this fund could be of interest to investors wanting exposure to UK investment grade fixed-income securities.
